I love hiking.
Hiking is one of my favorite things to do… being outside, in the fresh air, among nature, among God’s beauty… I love hiking.
Yesterday on MLK Jr Day, Amanda went hiking as we both had the day off. (Thank you Federal Holidays!)
And we decided on Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland. And I’m glad we did it.
It was a great hike. We brought our cameras, strapped on our shoes and hiked 5 miles – which took about 4 hours… with a lot of stopping to take a lot of pictures. (Okay – I’m sure from the posts I’ve written you’ll know my addiction to photography!)
So, the hike was 5 miles and ups and downs, with great scenic views and being surrounded by the beautiful woods… however we started the hike thinking it was 3 mile hike. Ha – were we surprised that we did 5 miles! And there were a few moments that we veered from the Blue Blazed Path (What in the Blue Blazes???!!!) and had to backtrack, but in the end – we made it and finished the hike at about 5PM (we started at about 1:30-1:45). And in the end got to see a great sunset.
It was a great first hike of the year and I was very happy to have done it and the weather complied (about 55 degrees throughout the day)!!!!
I can’t wait to do even more hikes throughout the year!!
Enjoy some of the pictures I took during yesterday’s hike!!!!
