First day of temptation….

First day of temptation….

As I told you in my previous post – I started the South Beach Diet. No carbs… no sugar.

And I had my first real temptation today.

CUPCAKES! As you know from all my previous posts – I love cupcakes, and I get them for free basically once a week. They are my weakness.

And I truly got faced with temptation today. The president of our division came by bearing gifts… 3 dozen cupcakes from my favorite cupcake place… Georgetown Cupcake. With so many different flavors I had not yet tried -I thought I was going to cry.

I thought… no one will no that I ate it… I just have to keep it to myself. But I couldn’t. I’m 3 days in and I’m doing so well.

So what did I do?

I grabbed a cupcake. Chocolate Lava Cupcake. It looked so deliciously chocolatey. With decadent looking vanilla icing on top… with some chocolate syrup.

I looked at it. And imagined what my tastebuds would do once the chocolate hit my tongue… and the lava chocolate syrup oozed out of the center. It would rejoice. It would be heaven.

And this is what I did…

Cup-Cake Love

Cup-Cake Love

I’m taking a break from cleaning my apartment and laundry to do yet another cupcake post.

You all are probably thinking I weight like 200lbs, but I don’t. I’m actually a pretty healthy person and eat reasonably healthy – whole grains, veggies, fruits, not much processed food… but I do have my guilty pleasure of cupcakes.

Last night I went to hospital to visit my friend Jamie who is in the hospital – and has been for 6 weeks, and will be there for another 6 weeks until her baby is born -but she and her hubby were getting tired of hospital food – so I brought them dinner from one of my favorite spots – The Lost Dog – which makes fabulous sandwiches and pizza. I brought them sandwiches. How about dessert?

Strawberry Cupcake!

Strawberry Cupcake!

So, it’s been a while since I put up a cupcake post.

Well… maybe only two weeks. Can you believe that last week was probably the first week that at work we didn’t get a cupcake or treat? Crazy!

Okay, okay, I’m a bit spoiled at work. It was actually kinda nice to go a week without a treat.

But alas – the wait was over yesterday afternoon. In celebration of a new VP and General Manager for the company – they ordered cupcakes to celebrate – of course from Georgetown Cupcakes.

So many flavors to choose from – and rather than choosing one of my favorites – I decided for the sake of the blog, I’d try a new one. I’m such a martyr.

So, what flavor did I choose? Well, one of the flavor’s of the month is Strawberry. Which, I’ve never had before. I had the Strawberry over Strawberry bourbon vanilla cake.

Description: Classic madagascar bourbon vanilla cupcake baked with fresh strawberries and topped with a fresh strawberry frosting and a fondant heart

Mine did not have fondant heart – but a little decoration that had the new boss’s initials AW.

But can I say… DELICIOUS! It didn’t beat Red Velvet or Salted Caramel – but it sure is up there with a favorite flavor! It was sooo good.

The bourbon vanilla cupcake baked with fresh strawberries – totally genius. The strawberry icing – was sweet, but too sweet – but light enough to accompany the cupcake part.

Sigh… I’m going to have run an extra 3 miles just for the cupcake alone. But it was worth it.

So… I had another cupcake today.

It’s not my fault work is so generous!

I was really hoping we’d go a week without cupcakes… but alas, this week was not the week. One day I’ll be able to resist a cupcake, but today was not that day.

So… on to it…

What cupcake did I have today? It was another Georgetown Cupcake… but no special flavor. It was Chocolate with the butter cream icing, However, it was decorated very nicely – pink icing with some sprinkles and a nice fondant piece shaped into the DC Capitol. The cupcakes had a DC theme going through them… which I guess is relevant since it is a DC cupcake shop. Oh… and the show is called DC Cupcakes… watch it… it’ll help to keep m employed. :-)

It was a very good cupcake. I ate it, I was satisfied. However… it wasn’t until about an hour or two later, after I ate the cupcake – I went to the restroom and as I was washing my hands, I looked up in the mirror and saw that I had pink frosting on my teeth.

Yep… so you can stop the jealousy and roar with laughter instead… my punishment for bragging over all the cupcakes and for eating so much cupcakes…. pink teeth from the pink frosting.

Oh well… it was worth it since the cupcake was so delicious. Besides, I was at my desk all day and it wasn’t like i was out smiling at people like an idiot.

Doesn’t this cupcake look so wonderfully yummy?

Yummm…Salted Caramel

Yummm…Salted Caramel

I got another cupcake today. I know, I know… two cupcakes, two days in a row. Not good. But really, I couldn’t say no. Saying no is a skill I don’t have.

It was the special flavor of the month… Chocolate Salted Caramel!

It was delicious. Chocolate…. caramel goo… butter cream frosting with caramel on top… TO… DIE… FOR…. Seriously. It was good… nearly beat my favorite Red Velvet.

And it was better than yesterday’s Maple.

Just look at the deliciousness and drool… okay, seriously, no more cupcakes for me this week. I swear!
