Being a girl has its advantages….

Being a girl has its advantages….

So – the past few weeks I’ve had my share of unnecessary drama… but it’s almost (I hope) resolved… but in the process of this drama, I gained a car… I’m not sure whether to look at this car as a curse or a blessing… I’m trying really hard to see it as a blessing.

You see… I’ve been living without a car now for the past 8 months – since April. I live in a place where I don’t need a car and I take public transportation to work. So, I didn’t want or need a car – therefore when my Ex wanted the car – I was more than happy to give it to him. It was less of a headache for me.

But through unforeseen circumstances, I have the car back. And having the car back means responsibility. One of those responsibilities is getting the car to pass the Safety Inspection for Virginia.

And the first time I went two weeks ago… well – it failed. As in it got a big ol’ RED REJECTION sticker on it.

The Parking/Emergency Brake was not holding. GREAT. Who needs a Parking/Emergency Brake, unless you live in San Francisco of course… I certainly never used it.

So, what was I supposed to do – I already had to shell out a big amount of $$ to straighten out the whole car ownership thing – but then I have to get it fixed?

So, what was I, a girl, to do, when all I wanted to do was to get the car to pass the Safety Inspection?

Why flirt of course!!!

First – I went to a nondescript gas station that does Safety Inspections – made conversation with the mechanic and the owner of the said gas station. Fluttered my eyelashes a bit… lied through my teeth (oh, my mechanic said the parking brake is fine!) and was really really really nice.

And in the end, what do I get? My Jeep passed the Safety Inspection without having to spend major dough to get this parking brake fixed.

Don’t get me wrong – I’ll get the brake fixed – as soon as my funds are back to where they were before this whole car debacle – but it’s nice to know that being a girl allowed me to “flirt” with the unsuspecting victims so I could drive my car easily and not have to get a ticket for a “failed safety inspection.”

If a guy tried to do the same thing… well – they would still have a “Failed/Rejected Safety Inspection” Sticker on their windshield!

So, there is something definitely beautiful about being a girl!!!!

Oh – and one blessing to having a car to drive again – I get to sing in the car again! Which is one of my favorite things to do!!!
