Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my Dad’s birthday! Happy Birthday Daddy!

My dad is awesome. I’m a daddy’s girl… and a mama”s girl too. But when I’m around my dad – things are good. I feel like a little girl again.

I am the youngest girl in my family – and was actually the baby of the family for 9 years until my brother was born. But for the longest time, I was the baby. And was treated with “baby” status. And to this day – my parents still call me “bunso” which in Tagalog (the filipino language) means “baby”.

To this day, my dad calls me Bunso and introduces me as Bunso… it’s a Filipino thing. And I admit that I was babied extensively when I was younger. That doesn’t mean I was spoiled, because my sisters, brother and I were not. But anytime I fell and scraped my knee – my dad would pick me up and scold me saying “Little girls don’t run! If you don’t run, you won’t fall!” Then he’d blow on my scraped knee and tell me to sit on the stairs like a good little girl.

A few things why my dad is awesome:

  • He plays the funniest tricks… for the longest time when I was a child, I seriously thought he could swallow coins and then pull them out of this ear, or his nose, or his belly button.
  • He loves to sing. He is the Karaoke King! Some of my earliest memories of him is singing to karaoke in our living room. When I visit him, he is usually singing karaoke in the living room. My step-mom says that he’ll sing karaoke before he can go to bed. But because of him, I have an extensive knowledge of lyrics. Lady in Red….
  • He is always active. He plays golf every weekend, no fail. He’s also really good at golf. My sisters and I would fight over which trophy we would claim as ours when he played in Amateur Tournaments. I was also treated to a trip to Lake Tahoe a few years ago when he played a Tournament out there. It was pretty cool. My dad also plays tennis, basketball, and bowls. And he’s really good at every sport he plays.
  • Because he plays golf and loves golf so much – it makes it so much easier to buy a birthday present or any type of present. For example: golf clubs, golf balls, golf shirts, funny golf gifts…
  • My dad knows EVERYONE! When I mean EVERYONE, I seriously mean EVERYONE. We’ll go out for dinner and he sees someone that he knows. We’ll go grocery shopping and he sees someone that he knows. We’re in the car together and he’ll see someone that he knows.
  • My dad is extremely funny. His jokes are hilarious. He’s incredibly corny but the jokes are so corny they are really funny.
  • He’s not just a great dad…. he’s also a great Lolo (grandpa in Tagalog). Watching him play with my niece and two nephews is just amazing. He runs around and plays hide and seek with them. He plays the same tricks on them as he did to my sisters, brother and me. While I’m not looking to have children anytime soon, I know he’ll be such a great Lolo to them.
  • And last but not least – my dad is awesome because – well he just is!

So… happy birthday Dad!!! Love you! XOXOXOXO!!

Sleepovers

Sleepovers

So, this past Friday, I reverted back about 15 years with two of my best girlfriends and had a sleepover.

In celebration of my friend Jamie’s birthday – we had a girl sleepover. To my male readers (not that many, if any) it is exactly what you might think it would be…Comfy PJs… girls talking boys, PILLOW FIGHTS (hahaha, JK!), food and WINE!

This was actually a SURPRISE sleepover – organized by Kayvan, husband to Jamie, who contacted Heather and I – to surprise Jamie for a girls night in. And when Jamie opened the door to Heather and I – how did she greet us other than with “You Biznatches!” I guess that shows how much she cared! Hahaha – but to be said, she kept saying over and over again that she knew something was up – though we all disagree with her!

And the sweetie that Kayvan was – made us dinner (nachos!) and some delicious chocolate rimmed wine glasses filled with Red and White Wine (separate glasses of course). And how did we top the night off?

By playing Rock Band of course!!! And we rocked the night away!!!!

It was an extremely fun night and it made me feel like a young girl/teenager of the yesteryears.

Enjoy the pictures from our fun sleepover!!!

Happy Birthday Jamie!!! I dedicate this post to you – you’re an amazing person and friend! How blessed I am to have you as part of my life! The world is most definitely a brighter place with you in it. Love you TONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Jamie!!!!

We had one of the white and one of the red! We were a bit lush...

Drinking the wine!

Heather, I think there is something on your teeth!

I think I like this chocolate and wine combo!

It's not a sleepover unless you have on some comfy PJs! (I think we've got 3 bars!)

Ending the night with Rock Band!! Rocking the night away!

Reviewing the night in pictures!

Friday was a fantastic night with two of my best friends! I wish I could revert to being a teenager more often!
